ANDRAGOGY

Andragogy refers to theory developed by Malcom Knowles on adult learning. Adult motivations, goals, preferences, and experiences differ from children (pedagogy) and therefore designing learning experiences would be different for the mature learner.

A Sample Training Topic - Learning OneNote

Microsoft OneNote is a great organizational tool that can be used to keep you professionally and personally organized. The instructional goal is to help an adult student create an electronic notebook to organize content such as to do lists, tasks, notes, and other project items. And finally, the students will learn how to use key functions to solve a problem related to work or personal project.
The Learning Plan
· Clearly state the benefit and why this is useful
o You can begin using this tool immediately to organize projects into a digital notebook
o It can be used at home, on your smart technology and most offices – it is a basic software to the Microsoft suite
o Search and organize notes and related documents quickly so you don’t have to remember where you put a paper or file
o You can share your notebooks and collaborate with others

· Adults learn best through task-orientation so I would clearly state the task to perform each task
o Opening a New Notebook
o Changing Color of Tabs Step by step
o Printing documents to OneNote ( screen recording)

· Adults are motivated to learn to solve a problem so I would offer problem scenarios
o Problem #1: I am planning a vacation and I have a number of confirmation emails – how can I keep this information in one place for the family (Solution: tagging, email content to OneNote, share notebook or page)
o Problem #2: I typed notes during a presentation and now someone just sent me the deck. How can I put all of this together? ( Solution: email or copy presentation files to notebook, copy text to notebook)
o Problem #3: I have several tabs where I have noted that I have to give Mary a call. How do I find these notes in my notebook ( Solution: tagging, searching)
